5. Basenji
The Basenji, often referred to as the “barkless dog” of Africa, is a unique and ancient breed known for its intelligence, independence, and distinctive yodel-like vocalizations.
Originating from Central Africa, specifically the Congo region, Basenjis were highly prized by the indigenous tribes for their hunting abilities and agility.
They were used to track and flush game into nets, relying on their keen senses and remarkable speed.
Although a poor encounter can entirely unwind years of training for a well-behaved Basenji, they adjust to situations rapidly. Basenjis are a risky breed to own because of their intellect and powerful jaws.
